School & Community Garden Construction

EXPERIENCE, IMPACT, & APPROACH

CUF has worked in the conversion of vacant to vibrant land for the last 10 years. CUF was founded in the process of converting their 1/4 acre vacant lot land into a vibrant community garden hub in the heart of the San Fernando Valley. CUF employs the use of sustainable and local resources to cultivate spaces that bridge resilience and creativity.

CUF has built school gardens for the UCLA LAB School and is currently working with the City of Los Angeles in the creation of a new community garden and urban farm.

CUF utilizes a hands on approach that is site specific, client driven, and simple.

Field Trips, Workshops & Farm Rentals

EDUCATIONAL FIELD TRIPS & WORKSHOPS

CUF’s founder Elliott Kuhn is a credentialed teacher with the state of California, and has taught in the public school system and created curriculum and educational programming for institutions such as TreePeople, SEE-LA, the Grammy Museum, the UCLA LAB School.

CUF offers 2 hour hands on field trips that show the ecology of the urban environment through the lens of integrated farm systems. Topics include, pollination, multi- crop production, animal husbandry, and composting. CUF is available to teach groups of all ages and sizes.

CUF’s passion is centered around the resilience and diversity that orchards can provide for the home and public. The Mediterranean Climate of Los Angeles provides a unique opportunity to grow a variety of fruits from cold weather stone fruit to sub-tropicals and tropicals.

ENHANCE YOUR ORCHARD

CUF provides expert seasonal pruning and tree care for your existing orchard, consults in the installation, and care of new orchards, and can give you the tools and training to care and cultivate your own backyard fruit production.
